When the profession of pharmacy was evolved in India during the decade of 1960s, there was a demand for the well trained and qualified pharmacists, in order to fulfill the requirements of the then profession of pharmacy, a short and speedy course of pharmacy is called namely Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) was developed and offered to the students of pharmacy who have passed SSLC/Xth qualification. Later, in the decade of 1990s, the minimum qualification for D. Pharm admission was raised to 10+2/ intermediate/ SSSC. Thus a large number of students showed their interest in the profession of pharmacy by opting D. Pharm and got registered themselves as pharmacists with the pharmacy council of India. ELIGIBILITY

The candidate should have qualified the 10+2 examination in Science stream of any recognized Board of Higher Education with minimum 50% marks in aggregate of the three subjects namely:

  • Physics (essential subject)
  • Chemistry (essential subject)

Biology/ Mathematics/ Biotechnology/ Computer Sciences (any one of these)

ADMISSIONS

Admissions are based on the guidelines of the university and are done in two modes:

  • Through the entrance test conducted by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh (UPJEE).
  • Directly on vacant seat or through management quota based on merit in 10+2 examination.

CURRICULUM:

The 2 year D. Pharm. Curriculum has been divided into 2 years and includes lectures, tutorials, practicals, seminars and projects etc. in addition to industrial training and educational tour etc. as defined in the schemes of instructions and examinations and executive instructions issued by the technical board from time to time. The curriculum will also include other curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities as prescribed by the BTE (Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh) from time to time.
